OPEN CALL: ARTIST RESIDENCY & PUBLIC ART COMMISSION

Mill View, Hougton Conquest, Bedfordshire

Ginkgo Projects invites applications from East of England-based creative practitioners for a unique residency and public art commission at Mill View, a new residential development in Bedfordshire.

At the heart of the site, the Core Countryside Park offers a significant opportunity to shape a new public space. The selected artist will be commissioned to undertake a short residency and to develop a permanent, site-specific work for a prominent landscaped mound with a spiral path, designed as a viewing point and gathering space within meadow and parkland.

Through a short residency, you will collaborate with the client and design team to create an integrated, enduring artwork that responds to the landscape, enhances the visitor experience, and reflects a strong, craft-led approach.

Commission budget: £31,000 (inclusive of design, fabrication, and installation)

Deadline for expressions of interest: 5pm, Tuesday 5th May 2026

OPEN CALL: ARTIST RESIDENCY & PUBLIC ART COMMISSION

Land at Chase Farm, Arlesey, Central Bedfordshire

Ginkgo Projects invites applications from East of England–based artists for a 6–7 month, part-time commission as part of the public art strategy for Chase Farm, Arlesey.

This opportunity focuses on Phase 1 of the development: 200 new homes set within an emerging public realm of green corridors, footpaths, play areas, and shared social spaces. The selected artist will develop a series of site-specific interventions that enhance movement, gathering, and everyday experience across the landscape.

Responding to the character of Arlesey—its agricultural roots, brickmaking heritage, and surrounding ecology—the commission offers scope for thoughtful, craft-led work embedded within the fabric of the place.

Commission budget: £25,000 (inclusive of design, fabrication, and installation)

Deadline for expressions of interest: 5pm, Tuesday 5th May 2026
