Think Place is an action research project that supports and enables the development a strategic approach to place distinctiveness within Torbay. Ginkgo has been working for Torbay Culture and partners in the bay to deliver this initiative as part of the Great Place Scheme.

The aim of the project is to provide and support a policy framework to help promote a people led approach to place development through harnessing creative skills and knowledge to engender a sense of identity and belonging. This is supported by two practice led projects being delivered for Westerland Valley Park where Steph Tudor is working with the Great Parks community to develop a work exploring thresholds.  Lydia Johnson of Citizen Design Bureau is designing a relief for the new flood defence scheme for Paignton and Preston.

Our work is grounded in recognition of the varying roles of artists through activation, research, enabling, creation, production and documentation to lead innovative and progressive projects connecting people to place through creative  practice.
